Delevoping Skills.

Three Strengths I Have In Sports.

I don’t really think of things I’m good at when playing sports, but here are a few things I believe I’m good at. I’m pretty speedy when playing sports like Football, Basketball, Track and field, and more. I’m pretty good at passing and taking shots with a Football/Basketball.

One Thing I Need To Work On.

Not moving with a ball is a super hard thing for me, I’m just so used to running and moving with a ball that I end up always failing sports like Netball.

My Arthritis Research

Introduction

We have been researching bones, joints, tendons, and more recently.  So today we learnt about Ligaments, which are the joints in your body that connect bones to bones. And tendons, the joints in the body that connect muscles to bones. So why arthritis? Well firstly…

What is Arthritis?

Arthritis is a condition that causes joint inflammation, leading to pain and stiffness. It can affect anyone, regardless of age, and includes different types. The most common types are osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis. Osteoarthritis happens when the cartilage in joints wears down over time. Rheumatoid arthritis is an autoimmune disease where the body attacks its own joints. Arthritis can make daily activities difficult, but there are treatments available to help manage the symptoms.

What causes it?

Arthritis can have several causes, which vary by type:

1. **Genetics**: Family history can increase your risk, especially for rheumatoid arthritis and osteoarthritis.

2. **Age**: The risk rises as you get older due to natural wear on joints.

3. **Injury**: Past joint injuries, like fractures or ligament damage, can lead to arthritis later.

4. **Autoimmune Response**: In rheumatoid arthritis, the immune system attacks the joint lining, causing pain.

5. **Obesity**: Extra weight stresses joints, especially in the hips and knees.

6. **Infections**: Some arthritis types may develop after joint infections.

7. **Lifestyle**: Being inactive, eating poorly, and smoking can also contribute.

Understanding these causes can help with prevention and treatment. It’s best to consult a healthcare professional for advice

What are the symptoms?

The symptoms of arthritis often include joint pain, stiffness, swelling, and warmth or redness over the affected joints. You may also experience a decreased range of motion and fatigue. In cases of rheumatoid arthritis, firm bumps under the skin may develop. If you notice any of these symptoms, it’s important to consult a healthcare professional

What are some of the treatment options?

There are several options to manage arthritis and reduce symptoms:

1. Over-the-counter pain relievers like acetaminophen and NSAIDs can reduce pain and inflammation. –

2. Customized exercise programs can improve flexibility and strength, while therapy can help with daily activities.

3.  Keeping a healthy weight lessens stress on joints.

4.  Acupuncture or massage therapy can provide relief for some individuals.

5. Braces or custom orthotics can support joints.

6. In severe cases, surgical options like joint replacement may be necessary.

Consult with a healthcare professional to find the best treatment plan for your specific needs.

Bonus: Can cracking knuckles be bad for you?

Cracking your knuckles is a common habit. The sound comes from gas bubbles in the joint fluid popping. Many people worry that cracking knuckles can lead to arthritis. However, research shows there is no connection between knuckle cracking and arthritis. For most people, cracking knuckles is harmless. It doesn’t cause damage to the joints. But if you feel pain, swelling, or discomfort when you crack your knuckles, you should see a healthcare professional. In short, while cracking your knuckles is usually safe, pay attention to your body. Get advice if you have any concerns.

Chicken Wing Dissection.

12/5/25

Last Friday, we did a chicken dissection for class. We all got into groups of three, my group being Liam, Corbin, and me.                                                                  Before we did the dissection we learnt about the anatomy of its body. First we did the Tendons, Bones, Muscles, The Femur, Fibula, the hipbone, and more. And finally got to start the dissection.

I can’t really say the steps very detailed because I was on camera duty but,

  1. We put gloves on. (Well, you don’t have to it’s an optional thing)
  2. Grab the materials and tools you need.
  3. Then we cut.
  4. Put the skin you cut to the side.
  5. Then cut the joints and put them aside.
  6. The clean up.

Why did we do this though? Well, it was supposed to teach us about how living things operate, this lesson being about how they move.

We finished this lesson in the time given. This lesson really showed us the anatomy of how the chickens move, which can really be helpful for learning all about MRS GREN and the living things.

The Effects of Heat…

So! Recently, we have done these experiments with Convection, Contraction, Conduction, and Diffusion.

The first we did was Conduction… How did we do it? Well firstly we set up the equipment needed for our experiment. We plugged in the Bunsen Burner, grabbed potatassium jelly, and using that, stuck pins onto a little metal rod. We stuck the metal rod to the retort stand and clamped it in to make sure it stuck on tight and good while it was getting burnt later. We light up the Bunsen Burner and start our stopwatch. Before finally ending the experiment and putting it into our write-up.

Next, we did Convection, and started by setting down a heatproof mat for the Bunsen Burner. We put it down onto a tripod so it stayed off the ground and so the Bunsen Burner could fit underneath.

My teacher told me to send it even though It isn’t finished so maybe I will finish it after school time.

Music This Term.

In music this term, we have been learning Piano, These last weeks are gonna be us playing Guitar. But this blog is focusing on us playing Piano.

What Did I Enjoy Playing Piano?

The piano is a cool instrument to play, what I really enjoyed about it was making my own melodies. I sometimes would just press random keys and get good and cool melodies out of it. I still found and played a song, which is called Blinding Lights by The Weeknd

What Did I Find Hard?

There are not many things I found hard, But if I had to choose one it would be playing under a lot of noise. It was hard to hear my keyboard with others also playing at max volume. But otherwise, it was fun.

How Did I Feel About My Recording?

I was pretty nervous when I was waiting, I didn’t want to make a mistake, but when I went in and played it all went away.

You may be confused about what recording I’m talking about, well we recorded ourselves playing the song we learned, here’s mine. I only did a little because I mostly did my own thing, which… Wasn’t what we were told to do. Anyway here it is!

Thank You!

Thanks for being here and reading my blog! I hope you enjoyed and there’s other blogs of mine you can check out too! Have fun!!!

Peripheral Vision

Kia Ora, Lately in Science we have been learning about The 5 Senses.

We learned about:

  • Touch
  • Smell

Now we are onto:

  • Sight

Before the actual lesson, here are some things we learned about our eyes. Peripheral Vision is when you can see something but are not focused on it. For example the corner of your eye. You can see through it, right? Well, If not you might need some help. You might be reading this and seeing out of the corner.

Here is another reason for what we learned about our eyes.

Why do they hurt? At the back of your eye, you have this thing called a Retina, when the retina’s light-sensing cells overstimulate from looking at a bright light, it release massive amounts of signaling chemicals, injuring the back of your eye. The sun can shine so intensely that looking at it straight for just a few seconds can cause permanent retinal damage.

Now back to our lesson.

In our lesson, we tried to see whether different shapes or colors are easier or harder to see with peripheral vision.

So we used a protractor with a shape with different colors or colors with different shapes and then kept our eyes on the pin in the middle. Then our buddies the popsicle stick, until we called out ” I see it ” or something like that. Then we kept track of our all work.

So were different shapes easier to see, or were the colors easier? To our discovery, it seems that shapes are easier to see, though others may say otherwise. You should read why in their blogs! But here is the end of the blog. Ka Kite!

My Time in Music

Talofa lava! In this ongoing term, we have been doing some new classes, such as Food Tech, Music, Social Studies, Literacy, Numeracy, and Pacific Studies. This blog is going to cover my Music class. We are taught by this teacher called Mrs Beer.

I personally enjoyed music, we learned about how to sing different tones, and how to play the keyboard, and soon we are going to learn about Drums or Guitars. I learned how to play a little bit on Blinding Lights, and I also am trying to learn Fur Elise. We sang three different songs this term. Lean on Me, The Greatest Showman (Mrs. Beer didn’t tell us the name), and Himi 113 (Also known as Eiki Koe ‘Ofa ‘a’au)

Reflection

We learned quite a few things in music, and still have a few more weeks to learn more. I enjoy this class and might be one of my favorite classes this term. Though I don’t like to sing, It is still a great skill to have when I’m older.

How do You Feel About This Work?

How do I feel… It feels nice to learn this stuff, learning more piano so I could show my family and maybe for my jobs later in my life. Music is a fun class even without the piano and stuff. Because Mrs. Beer lets us do Blookets, Kahoots, and more fun stuff :]

What Would You do Differently?

I paid more attention in music than in some of my other classes, so I didn’t have many things I missed out on.

My Music Taste

What Type of Music Do You Like & Why?

All genres of music are different, but I really enjoy Hip-Hop and RNB. When I was young I would roam around the house, and my mother would play Rap songs or RNB songs. Sometimes I even danced to it, and that’s what truly, got me into Hip-Hop and RNB.

Who is Your Favorite Artist & Why?

Though I have multiple favorite Artist, I can’t pick them all. So instead I’ll narrow them down. But to narrow it down I’ll to my top 5.

  1. Kendrick Lamar
  2. Playboi Carti
  3.  Tyler The Creator
  4. Travis Scott
  5.  Tory Lanez

What is Your Favorite Song at The Moment?

I do have lots of favorite songs, but if I had to pick It would most likely be.

Love by Kendrick Lamar feat. Zacari,

Have You Learned a Musical Instrument Before?

Yes I have, I used to practice the guitar and the ukelele, but it was a long time ago. My mother asked if I wanted to try it out and we got a mentor for it.

Have You Performed Before?

I haven’t done a Musical Performance before, but I have performed a video with my friends, and we ended up winning.

What Are You Looking Forward to In The Upcoming Term?

I look foward to making music and song. But I also can’t wait to learn more about music and why it is so important to the world today.

My First Persuasive Essay.

Introduction

I have never done an essay in my life, but recently I had my very first. Though it took a little to finish it, but I ended up finishing it anyway.

Now my essay was persuasive writing, and my topic was:

Music And Food Should be Allowed in Class

First, I had to do drafts before I did my final subject, rounding about 2 drafts. But I am thrilled with my finished subject.

Here are my drafts: link

Here is my final copy: link

And here are my Citations: link   (All the way at the bottom)

What have you learned?

I learned a lot from this essay. I learnt how to do a proper essay.

I learnt that Music can actually improve your mood and can help you relax.

How do you feel about this work?

Doing my essay was… Actually fun. It was a new learning experience for when I need it, I can use this essay.

What would you do differently?

If I am honest, I don’t think I would change much.

DNA

How Can You Tell That Something is Alive?

To tell that something is real you have to see if it can reproduce, grow, adapt, and react to the environment. There are other things that you can tell are alive. If it is moving, if it is breathing, if it is reacting to pain, and such.

DNA – Deoxyribo Nucleic Acid

DNA has these two walls, that are 3 cm apart. The four letters we use for this are ATG and C.

T goes with A

A goes with T

G goes with C

And C goes with G

If any of these letters are not with their designated letter it can cause Mutations which can cause stuff like cancer.

It’s almost like a book. And your book is 3 Billion pages long

You also have 20 trillion cells.

And we made this with lollies
